Around 20 minutes by car from the capital Funchal and 670 metres above sea level lies this spectacular 27-hole facility with three nine hole loops of different character, Machico, Desert and Serras. The facility was designed by the prolific American architect Robert Trent Jones Senior along with a lot of help from Mother Nature!
One of the characteristics of the course is challenging putting. The hallmark of Santo da Serra though, is the breathtaking fourth hole, a challenging par 3, 181 metres from the yellow tee, with a deep ravine between tee and green. Behind and in front of the green are narrow bunkers. The Santo da Serra fourth hole is also memorable for the breathtaking views. The course has been frequently used by the PGA European Tour.
